Advanced Cash Flow Forecasting using Statistical Techniques
Statistical techniques provide extremely helpful tools for forecasting future cash flows. This course uses practical examples to show how various statistical methods can be used to forecast components of the cash budget.
Agenda Topics
- Calculating and forecasting cash flow
- Probability distributions
- Confidence intervals for periodic cash flows
- Exponential smoothing techniques
Course Length
Three 2-Hour Virtual Sessions or One Full Day In-Person
Learning objectives
- Forecast cash flow components
- Time-series methods and smoothing techniques
- Regression analysis to forecast components of the cash budget
- Assess the adequacy of the cash flow forecast
Advanced Cash Flow Forecasting using Monte Carlo Techniques
Monte Carlo methods are invaluable resources to evaluate a range of possible outcomes for those forecasting business activities. Through a variety of examples and demonstrations, this course helps attendees to apply Monte Carlo methods to cash flow forecasting problems, such as mixing forecasts, non-normal cash flow distributions and multi-period forecasting, and to execute Monte Carlo models as an Excel spreadsheet using a third-party plug-in.
Agenda Topics
- Overview of Monte Carlo methods
- Important distributions
- Inverse distributions
Course Length
Two 2-Hour Virtual Sessions or One Half Day In-Person
Learning objectives
- Understand the use of Monte Carlo simulation
- Apply Monte Carlo methods to problems
- Understand pitfalls and limitations of Monte Carlo techniques
